You could go as far to say we are dependent on the internet. I would not disagree with that statement. From the moment I wake up till the few seconds before I doze off for a good nights sleep, I use it. It provides so many benefits and opportunities for everyone. It is undeniable, the internet has taken over us as human beings. You should be cautious of what you do on your phone, laptop, personal computer, or whatever device you are using to access the net. There are multiple threats that we face every day, one of the biggest being a leak of our personal information. Nobody wants that.

Though you might not be aware, literally everyone is affected by this. There are only a few people who has not given up personal information on a website, and even fewer that has not accessed the internet. When we sign up for something, for instance, is one scenario where we provide crucial information like name, address, birthday, et cetera.

Everyone can admit that it is difficult to get familiar with the tech terms. Usually they are incredibly long and hard to memorize. No worries though, as we only need to know the basics to be safe.

For example, a firewall. This is one of the first lines of defense of the network our devices. Double check its settings to see if you are using it properly for the full protection of your identity.

Having a full list of software that is connected to you is also very important. It is highly recommended to not ignore this. So, in case an unwanted problem is encountered, it will be easier to fix it.

Make sure you have unapproved software blocked. If left unattended, could lead to some serious damages. You never know what might be carrying some type of virus.

It sounds easy, because it really is easy. Self defense is not only limited to physical means. You must also make sure you are safe online, since you spend most of your time on it.
