Interesting Social Justice Topic That Will Remain Relevant In 2019

By Laura Sullivan

The society has issues that dominate each era. Then there are classical issues that never appear to die because they mutate. If you are to choose a captivating social justice topic for your article or discussion, there are several areas that should top the choice you make. Here is a look at the topics and justification for their dominance of discussion.

Abortion is an emotive issue because of the many unresolved issues and the every changing social dynamics. It offers such issues of discussion as its legality or illegitimacy, whether it falls into civil rights or personal liberties and who should have the final say on whether a lady aborts. The health of the mother and life of the child still remain contentious.

Women and their role in combat remains a thorny issue. Crusaders are of the opinion that the terrain is skewed against the woman. There is no way to explain why women are not taking front seats as army generals across the world. There is a feeling that there is a deliberate scheme to lock them out. For women, they claim that they have the potential, contrary to what male chauvinists think.

The place of religion in the society is a debate that is yet to be settled. It is made prominent by ancient incidences where religion was given a front role and the actions it is accused of taking. Consider terrorism and yet religion is supposed to be a source of peace. Churches and church leaders have also been accused of preaching water while taking wine because of their atrocious acts. Is it time to finally defrock the religion?

Gender diversity in work places is one of the debates that appear to be endless. The issue is given prominence by the absence of as many women among the top CEOs of global companies. If parity was to be achieved, more women would have to occupy these positions. The debate ranges on whether this is through natural human resource forces or the situation is deliberate.

The world is ready to grant you any wish, unless you are terminally ill and on your death bed. People are opposed to continued suffering people are subjected to just because the law outlaws euthanasia. There is disagreement on whether a person should choose to live or die in particular circumstances. Even when there is clearly no cure, what is the point of allowing a patient to live in pain?

Millions of companies around the world are reporting mind-boggling returns as profits. However, millions of workers waking up daily to work for these companies cannot afford food, shelter or basic clothing, among other necessities. There is definitely a problem with that scenario. Nothing can justify the face that people cannot afford what they manufacture yet their employers are declaring massive profits. This is viewed as a return to slavery.

The route taken by social justice discussions will depend on the perspective you take. Whether the issue is viewed at local or international level, it is the facts that you present that will determine the strength of the debate. While contrary opinion exits, it appears that there is no solution in sight for some of these issues.
