There Are Many Benefits To Ozone Sanitation

By Brenda Howard

People are more aware of germs, and the diseases that result from them, than earlier generations were. They were not as careful about making sure food preparation areas were kept sanitized. It was not unusual for families to leave food out for an extended period, simply covering it and leaving it on the kitchen table for the next meal. Today most adults are concerned with sanitizing their environment, but are hesitant about the chemicals in products that accomplish that. Ozone sanitation is the solution for those concerned individuals.

Aqueous ozone is a liquid oxidizer that has many applications. It is three thousand times faster than bleach and is fifty times more effective. Chlorine can't compare to the power of this product which is three hundred times stronger. These statistics may seem almost frightening, but the liquid is perfectly safe for use and has been approved by numerous government agencies. Unlike harmful chemicals, ozone reverts to oxygen and water about forty-five minutes after use.

Since the product leaves behind no residue and doesn't emit any gases or fumes, it is considered environmentally friendly. The only byproduct of the oxidizer is oxygen. This makes it completely safe for use by humans, and it is not a threat to plants or animals. It is just as effective in cold water as in hot so there is no reason to expend energy heating water to maximize its use.

The sanitation method has been approved by a number of government agencies. The Food and Drug Administration has approved it for use in disinfecting food preparation areas, and it complies to OSHA standards. The product meets the guidelines set by the Model Aquatic Health Code that is concerned with swimming health and safety. The liquid has also been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency and is one of only three other similar products to have that distinction.

Swimming pools and water rides are a lot of fun and every summer visitors flock to them. They are a hotbed for germs and pathogens however, and it can be difficult to keep them completely disinfected. Salmonella and E.coli are commonly found in the water. These pathogens can cause serious infections and other physical complications.

Since this product doesn't require heat, it is a great way to disinfect surfaces in areas where hot water is not plentiful enough or not available. This can include outdoor venues and remote locations. It is an excellent solution for portable or field hospitals that may have limited access to a reliable hot water source.

Ozone also saves money. As stated it does not require the use of hot water to be effective. This saves energy. The liquid reduces the amount of time needed to disinfect surfaces, used in the food industry for example, and eliminates the necessity for rinse cycles and repeat cycles. This frees times for employees to work elsewhere which increases their work capacity, but not their workload.

Chemicals and additives may never be completely eliminated, but this product goes a long way in reducing the need for much of them. Most people prefer that their surfaces and surroundings be sanitized in the most natural way possible. In the end people are better served and so is the planet.
