What To Know About Greek Persian Wars

By Helen Stevens

They involve conflict between Greece and propel of Persian Empire and were caused by different things. Greek Persian wars were beneficial to Greece because this was the first time they united against a common enemy and that is how they emerged the winner. Their culture spread since they were able to mingle with their opponents and intermarry.

Conflict was beneficial to Athens because it had some short term effects on the city. However after some time the city suffered from major economic downfall and the city was also deprived physically. Their democracy too was undermined because the people they relied on since they were not strong enough to fight the opponents therefore making them fail during the first attack.

It is because their city was burnt to the ground that they got the motivation to fight back. They were prepared and had the tools to fight their opponents. There were bought positive and negative results experienced after the conflict was over. Culture change since people intermarried thus promoting cultural exchange which contributed to putting looking at every culture in a special way.

However do not forget that this was the first reason why they fought to begin with. The fact that most people from these communities were traders brought differences leading to people fighting. Spartans felt as if people from Athens used public funds for their own gain. There is nothing as wrong as more feeling inferior so it made them feel dissatisfied thus began fighting for equality.

Delian League was formed after Greece won the battle only that this time it was full of Athenians and anyone who was not of that descent was chased away. The land and natural resources were acquired through corrupt dealings. What one needs to note is that whatever people termed as corruption there was like stealing soldiers and not literally stealing money.

Greece ended up owning a lot of natural resources which were not acquired using the legal means. Even if they were acquired through conquering the battle they only helped people who were from Athens. In those days when a country or a community won any battle they automatically took over what those they defeated owned thus making the acquisition method corrupt as they grabbed properties unfairly.

Once the fighting was over there are some achievements that came by like innovation of science and mathematics. The goal was to make Athens beautiful therefore architects came up with drawings on how they wanted the city to look like. History writers emerged during this period since they wanted to record what exactly happened when people fought and made plays out of these stories.

The fighting did not just have negative results to the people involved since scientist were in a position to make more discoveries that could help people eat healthier foods. People were now in a position to understand that most deaths occurred naturally. Before people were meant to believe that death was as a punishment from God, a misconception that has been done away with overtime.
